As part of the 2026-2027 Academic Year Orientation Week, Erbaa Vocational School organized a series of introductory, informative, and awareness-raising activities aimed at supporting students’ adaptation to university life.
The activities were carried out for first- and second-year students across 7 departments and 8 programs within our School, with the participation of program advisors and academic staff.
First-year students were provided with information about our University, Erbaa Vocational School, its departments, and academic programs. Students were introduced to academic and relevant administrative staff, while facilities and services such as the library, sports facilities, social areas, health services, and campus opportunities were also presented. In addition, students were informed about KARMER, PDRMER, TOGÜSEM, and other university units from which they may benefit. Basic information was also shared regarding education and examination regulations, disciplinary procedures, and students’ rights and responsibilities.
For second-year students, information was provided on career opportunities, post-graduation employment areas, extracurricular personal and professional development opportunities, entrepreneurship, career development processes, student clubs, and social and cultural activities. Students were also informed about possible talks and experience-sharing events with graduates and professionals who have gained experience in relevant fields.
Within the scope of Orientation and Opening Week activities, students were also informed about combating online betting, games of chance, and gambling. Attention was drawn to the economic, psychological, social, and academic risks that online betting and gambling may create, as well as signs of loss of control, illegal betting platforms, and the risks associated with promises of “guaranteed profit.” It was emphasized that betting and gambling should not be regarded as a source of income or a form of investment, with the aim of increasing students’ awareness of risky behaviors.
Another information session held during Orientation Week focused on the “Zero Waste Project and Waste Awareness.” Students were informed about waste types, recycling, organic waste, composting practices, the disposal of non-recyclable waste, and the proper separation of waste at source. It was emphasized that the Zero Waste approach is based on preventing wastefulness, using resources more efficiently, reducing waste generation, and recovering recyclable materials. Students were also informed about the proper use of the mobile waste collection center and waste bins available within our University.
As part of the 2026-2027 Academic Year Opening Week, the first lecture was also held under the theme of “Terror-Free Türkiye.” The lecture addressed national unity and solidarity, social peace, a culture of coexistence, and a shared understanding of the future. The importance of rejecting all forms of violence, respecting different opinions, and acting consciously against misinformation and divisive content was emphasized. Students were also reminded of the importance of questioning information encountered on social media and verifying its source.
Through all of these activities, it was aimed to enable our students to become more familiar with the academic, administrative, social, and cultural opportunities available within our University and Vocational School; to gain information about educational processes, student rights and responsibilities, career opportunities, and personal development opportunities; and to increase their awareness of current social issues. In addition, the activities aimed to facilitate students’ adaptation to university life, strengthen their sense of institutional belonging, and support their more conscious and active participation in academic processes.
As Erbaa Vocational School, we wish all our students, academic staff, and administrative personnel a successful, peaceful, and productive 2026-2027 Academic Year.
