Quality Assurance in Education Addressed at TOGÜ: Experiences on Program Accreditation Shared

The panel titled “Quality Assurance in Education: Experiences and Recommendations on the Program Accreditation Process,” organized by the University Quality Coordination Unit, was held at the 15 July Congress and Culture Center. The event was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Rasim Koçyiğit, Rector’s Advisor and Quality Coordinator Prof. Dr. Uğur Akın, Vocational School Director Dr. Öğr. Üyesi İrfan Usta, Vice Director Öğr. Gör. Güler Uzun, department quality representatives, and department heads. During the event, accreditation processes, which play a vital role in improving the quality of education at universities, were addressed from multiple perspectives.
In his speech, Quality Coordinator Prof. Dr. Uğur Akın shared up-to-date information on the accredited programs within the university and stated that significant progress has been made in the field of accreditation. He also emphasized that intensive efforts are being carried out to ensure the accreditation of all academic programs.
While the panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Emel Tüzel İşeri, Prof. Dr. Serap Barış, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevim Güven, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Serdar, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mehmet Tokatlı, and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Ömer Önal shared their experiences regarding the accreditation processes carried out in their respective units.
The panel highlighted that program accreditation should be conducted based on the participation of all stakeholders, regular meetings, and a continuous improvement approach grounded in the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle. It was stated that Bologna compliance, curriculum–outcome alignment, physical facilities, digital document management, surveys, and graduate and student feedback constitute the fundamental pillars of the process. It was also emphasized that accreditation is not merely a certificate, but a long-term transformation process that strengthens the institutional quality culture.
The panel concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the speakers and the taking of a group commemorative photograph. 26.11.2025
